The debate over longer schools days returns to the news

Last summer, I posted about a TIME Magazine article regarding the debate over longer school days. This issue is back in the news:

  • President Obama has endorsed a longer school day for American students, who tend to spend the equivalent of about a month more out of school compared to students in other industrialized countries [ABC News]
  • Meanwhile, the Washington Post reports that the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, and other states are considering or already have lengthened the school day.
